About

My name is Rob Brumfitt, a traditional dry stone waller living and working throughout the Pennines, in the North of England.

Raised in West Yorkshire and living for many years in the Cumbrian uplands, dry stone walls have always featured in the landscapes I've grown to know and love. Having a grandfather who was a waller for the entirety of his life, walling was always fated to cross my path.

In 2014 I was lucky enough to gain the opportunity to undertake a dry stone walling apprenticeship through theNorth Pennines AONB. Under the tutelage of Laurie Lambeth, (an exceptional craftsmen in the North Pennines) I gained a great footing in the craft, also gaining the opportunity to work on some inspiring projects - most notably helping to restore the shelter on the top of the Pennines highest peak, Cross Fell.

Combined with Laurie's expert guidance, the scheme put us through the DSWA's level 1 & 2 craftsmens certification. Under the mentoring of Peter Dent of Low Kays Lea, we were guided through the rigorous exams becoming certified craftsmen.

Hopefully as the years pass by I will leave my own legacy upon our ancient and rural landscape.
